We do not offer Christmas, New Years, Easter, or Thanksgiving Day events.  Additional fees may be required for other holiday weekend events, feel free to reach out with questions.

What areas do you service?

Jackson and Dekalb county AL is our main service area however we are happy to discuss other areas for a small travel fee.  Please reach out with any questions.

Do you do custom parties or themes?

We are happy to discuss any custom parties or themes.  Feel free to reach out with any questions and a quote.

Do you offer options on which animals are used at an event?

We do our best to bring a variety of animals and do offer some customized choices.  

What requirements are needed for set up area?

We need an area large enough to park a small livestock trailer within 50 feet of setup area.  Setup area would ideally be a grassy area but not necessary.  Please make sure grass has not been treated with pesticides at minimum 48 hours prior to event or let us know it has been so we can bring appropriate material to protect animals.

No pinatas or balloons, no screaming at animals or rough housing next to animals, and no firecrackers or gunfire near petting zoo animals and set up area.

All dogs and other pets must be kept away from petting zoo animals.

Indoor events?

We can do indoor events if you can provide adequate space.  There may be a small additional fee for indoor petting zoo due to the required additional equipment to keep areas clean.  Please reach out for more information.

Safety?

Children must be accompanied by an adult (18+) at all times during animal interactions.  We allow kids to pet the animals with the handlers.  Animals must be treated with respect and gently by all.

Cancellations?

Cancelations by clients due to weather only are permitted within 12 hours prior to event for Jackson county and Dekalb county and 24 hours prior outside that area, deposit will be held but no further payment required.  Events canceling after the required timeframe for weather only will still be responsible for full payment.

Do you give a discount for reservations for multiple hour event?

We are happy to discuss a discount on 3+ hour reservations.  Please reach out for specific questions.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require a nonrefundable $150 deposit for beverage burro and festival events and a $75 deposit at booking/reservation for all other events. Deposits go towards the total price. Please check with us prior to submitting deposit to verify that the date requested is available.  No date will be reserved without deposit.

Do you offer refunds?

Refunds after the event are not permitted.  Cancelations are subject to forfeiting the deposit.  Emergency cancellations are subject to case-by-case basis, please reach out if you have any questions.  No refunds or partial refunds will be given due to weather day of event once we arrive or are in route. (Please see below for more inclement weather info.)

How much time is needed for set up and clean up?

You are not charged for the additional time required for set up and clean up.  It takes approximately 60-90 minutes for each.  

Also keep in mind that animals are living beings and will use the bathroom.  We will clean up afterwards the best we can but keep in mind that goat and rabbit dropping are sometimes too small to clean up and are natural fertilizers.  As well as hooves and snouts may cause minor damage to grass, it does not cause permeant damage.

If you would like us to use a tarp to keep animals from messing up any grass, please let us know.  There may be a small additional fee for supplies.

Inclement weather?

For the safety of our animals, staff and event participants, we will not come during dangerous and inclement weather such as thunderstorms, tornado warnings, snow, sleet, ice, and extreme heat.  Weather alert days will be monitored closely and we will cancel accordingly as needed.  We will give an opportunity to reschedule and will apply deposit toward reserving new date.  

Additional Beverage Burro Frequently Asked Questions

What is the carrying capacity of donkeys?

A general guideline suggests that a burro should not carry more than 20% to 25% of its body weight.  At Farr Away Farm LLC, we prefer to adhere to a conservative approach and restrict the load to up to approximately 30-40 pounds which is equivalent to approximately 12-14 beverages/beer with ice on each side.

Who is responsible for supplying the drinks?

We do not provide alcohol, beverages, or ice for the event. It is the responsibility of the venue or client to arrange for these items. However, we do supply the donkey and pack coolers for transporting the beverages.

Do the donkeys make a "mess"?

They are living creatures and can have make "messes" sometimes.  We quickly clean up any messes.  For indoor events or if requested for outdoor events, we can use a discreet dung-bag.

Will my event venue allow and accommodate a donkey?

It is advisable and your responsibility to notify the event venue in advance to obtain approval for all vendors.  No refund will be granted for those not receiving permission prior to the event.

Do you have a parking policy?

Yes, Farr Away Farm LLC is not liable for a late start due to no parking availability upon arrival. It is the responsibility of the applicant(s) to ensure that there is ample parking for our truck and trailer, as well as unloading from the rear of trailer.

Do you require a deposit?

Booking Information
